Facial Club Aftercare: What to Do in the First 48 Hours
By Skinsation Aesthetics | September 28, 2026
I’m writing this for the real-life version of aftercare, the one that has to work in Colleyville heat, on busy schedules along Precinct Line Road, and in between family plans near Southlake.
The single most important rule after Facial Club is simple: keep your skin cool, clean, and protected for 48 hours. That means no heavy sweating, no direct sun, no retinols or acids, no hot baths or saunas, and ideally no makeup. Facial Club is $129 and can include options like Hydrafacial, a chemical peel, and an IPL Photo Facial, so your skin is fresh and more reactive right after. Give it a calm 48 hours and you’ll usually see better glow, less irritation, and more even-looking results.
0–24 hours after Facial Club: the sweat, heat, and sun rules that matter
Right after your appointment, I want you thinking: barrier care. Your skin has been actively worked on, even if you feel totally fine. In northwest Colleyville, late-summer and early-fall humidity can turn a quick errand into a sweaty situation fast, so plan your day like you just got your brows done. Keep it easy.
Quick checklist (same day): gentle cleanse only, hydrate, SPF in the morning, and skip anything that stings or heats you up.
What I generally recommend you avoid on day one
- Heavy exercise and anything that causes a lot of sweat. Sweat plus heat tends to trigger redness and bumps.
- Hot yoga, steam rooms, saunas, and long hot showers or baths.
- Direct sun, tanning, or sitting by a bright window without SPF. Yes, even a quick stop along the Precinct Line Road corridor can add up.
- Active exfoliants and actives: retinol, tretinoin, AHAs, BHAs, scrubs, and enzyme masks.
If you have to look polished that night
I get it. If you have dinner plans or an event, I’d rather you keep coverage minimal than pile on full-face makeup. If you truly need something, use a non-comedogenic mineral concealer, apply with clean hands or a clean sponge, and take it off gently as soon as you’re home.
24–48 hours: when you can ease back in (and what still waits)
This is where people accidentally sabotage results. They feel smooth and glowy, then they hit the gym, sit in the sun at a kid’s game, or restart retinol because they “want to keep it going.” Give it one more day. Your skin will thank you.
- Keep avoiding heavy sweating and heat if you’re still pink, tight, or extra sensitive.
- Stay off retinols and acids for at least 48 hours. If you did a chemical peel, I often recommend waiting longer. If you’re unsure, ask me and I’ll tell you what fits your exact session.
- Makeup is usually best after 24–48 hours. Earlier can clog freshly treated pores.
- SPF stays non-negotiable. Colleyville sun plus post-facial skin is a recipe for irritation and uneven tone.
DFW reality check: If you commute on SH-121 or you’re running through DFW for work or travel, keep a travel SPF in your bag and reapply. A short walk from parking lots adds up quickly.
The first week: how to keep your glow without triggering a flare-up
For most people, the first week is about staying consistent and not over-correcting. If you loved how your skin looked the day after, don’t chase that feeling with more exfoliation. Let the result settle.
What to keep doing
- Use lukewarm water and gentle cleansing. No scrubbing.
- Hydrate daily. Dehydrated skin can look dull fast, especially with Texas A/C running nonstop.
- Wear broad-spectrum SPF every morning and reapply if you’re outside. This matters even more after IPL Photo Facial and peels.
What I want you to avoid if you had a peel or IPL
Picking, peeling, and extra exfoliation are the big ones. If you notice dryness or light flaking, that’s your cue to moisturize and leave it alone. And if you’re combining Facial Club with other services in your plan, like CO2 laser or facial balancing appointments, I’ll always help you space things out so your skin stays calm instead of overloaded.
Post-facial skincare that actually supports Facial Club results
Keep your routine boring for a couple days. Boring is good. Here’s the simple version I recommend for most Facial Club sessions.
Morning routine (first 48 hours)
- Gentle cleanser
- Hydrating serum (think soothing and water-based, not tingly)
- Light moisturizer
- Broad-spectrum SPF
Night routine (first 48 hours)
- Gentle cleanse
- Hydrating layer again
- Moisturizer, a little richer if you feel dry
As a Facial Club member you also get 10% off products, so if you’re running low on your gentle cleanser or SPF, let me know at checkout and I’ll point you to what makes sense for your skin.
When to text me: what’s normal vs what needs a quick check-in
A little pinkness, mild tightness, or dryness can be normal, especially after treatments like chemical peels or light-based services. What I don’t want is you guessing. My style is clear communication and follow-up, because that’s how you get results you feel good about.
"During both of my sessions, I felt heard, all of my questions were thoroughly answered, and I never felt rushed."
One of our regulars
Reach out if you notice: worsening redness after day two, increasing swelling, a rashy reaction, or anything that feels more intense than “mild irritation.”
And if you’re scheduling around life, I see a lot of Facial Club members coming in from Colleyville, Southlake, Grapevine, Hurst, Bedford, and Euless because it’s easy to do a quick stop-off appointment near shopping and city services. If you’ve got travel or an event, tell me the date. I’ll help you time your session so your skin looks its best.
Between monthly Facial Club visits: small habits that keep results looking fresh
Facial Club is designed to stack results over time. The in-between work is simple, but it’s what keeps you from feeling like you “lost it” two weeks later.
- SPF every day, even on errands and school runs.
- Hydration first. Dry skin tends to look more textured and makeup sits heavier.
- Bring your questions to me instead of guessing with a new active product the night before a big day.
- If you’re also doing services inside your membership like IPL Photo Facial or one area of laser hair removal, keep sun exposure low so you get the most out of each session.
